All About MeMy name is Veronica O'Leary and I am a second grade teacher in Harrisburg School District. I am currently enrolled in my masters at Penn State University in Literacy Education and an ESL certificate program. I completed my bachelors at Penn State Harrisburg. I completed my student teaching experience in a first grade classroom in Shepherdstown Elementary School in Mechanicsburg School District.
I was born into an immigrant family, my mother from Argentina and my father from Ireland. I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I believe traveling is very important and have been to 32 countries in four continents and 49 states here in America. I am extremely dedicated to this profession and involve myself in the community as often as I can. I volunteer as a religious education teacher for both preschool and 6th grade. I also tutored students in Rutherford Elementary School through a program called Lunch Buddies. I am a 2nd grade boys basketball coach. Professional development is extremely important to me. As an undergrad I was the president of the Sigma Alpha chapter of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society at Penn State Harrisburg. I was also an active member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. As a member of both organizations, I attended both local and national conferences. As a pre-service teacher at Penn State Harrisburg, I had many opportunities to observe and complete field hours in multiple school settings. I was placed in a Head Start Preschool classroom, a kindergarten classroom in Mechanicsburg School District, a 2nd grade classroom in West Shore School District, and a 2nd grade classroom in Central Dauphin School District.
